Pink Jade Plant (Crassula ovata 'Pink Beauty') Care Guide
The Pink Jade Plant is a beautiful, low-maintenance succulent known for its pink-tinted leaves and star-shaped pink flowers. Here's how to care for it:
🌞 Light
-
Best: Bright, indirect sunlight or full sun.
-
Indoor placement: Near a south or west-facing window.
-
Outdoor placement: Partial sun to full sun, but gradually acclimate it to direct sun to avoid leaf burn.
💧 Watering
-
Water deeply but infrequently.
-
Let the soil dry out completely between waterings.
-
In summer (growing season): every 1–2 weeks.
-
Avoid overwatering – it's the most common cause of root rot.
🌱 Soil
-
Use well-draining cactus or succulent mix.
-
You can also make your own: mix regular potting soil with sand or perlite (2:1 ratio).
🪴 Potting
-
Use a pot with drainage holes.
-
Repot every 2–3 years or when root-bound, preferably in spring.
🌡️ Temperature & Humidity
-
Ideal temp: 18–24°C (65–75°F)
-
Normal household humidity is fine.
🌸 Fertilizer
-
Fertilize once a month during the growing season.
-
Use a diluted succulent fertilizer or balanced houseplant fertilizer.
-
Do not fertilize during winter dormancy.
✂️ Pruning
-
Prune to maintain shape or encourage bushiness.
-
Remove dead or leggy stems in spring.
🐛 Common Issues
-
Soft, mushy leaves: Overwatering.
-
Wrinkled leaves: Underwatering.
-
Pale or leggy growth: Not enough light.
-
Pests: Watch for mealybugs, aphids, and spider mites.
